SIBF 2024 Sharjah UAE

We are pleased to announce the 2024 edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair, which will be held from November 3 to November 1 at UAE’s Expo Centre in Sharjah (SICB). There will be two parallel morning full-day pre-conferences to improve library science knowledge on this occasion.

Librarians and information professionals have something to look forward to as the pre-conferences will explore in-depth RDA (Resource Description Access) about non-book materials. This training will provide participants with the competencies and knowledge required to systematically catalog different types of resources, helping libraries remain vibrant information depositories.

Simultaneously, a second pre-conference will showcase the release of an institutional repository. This proactive undertaking recognizes the changing nature of libraries in a digitally transformed landscape; its goal is to retain and promote academic material. Attendees will experience hands-on sessions and receive expert advice and good practices on setting up institutional repositories geared towards fostering a culture of sharing knowledge.

In 2013, the Sharjah International Book Fair partnered with the American Library Association to provide professionals with the best professional development opportunities. This partnership illustrates the commitment of this fair to support librarians in the Gulf and beyond, advancing library sciences worldwide.
